What to See Along Fort Lauderdale Beach

Fort Lauderdale Beach Promenade

Think of the promenade as Fort Lauderdale Beach’s main stage; a wide, palm-lined path along the beach and A1A / Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard where something is always happening.

You’ll see joggers and cyclists early in the morning, families building sandcastles by afternoon, and couples watching the sunset by evening.

If you prefer to stay on land, the promenade is ideal for jogging or a leisurely stroll, with volleyball courts along the way. Head toward the B Ocean end of the beach for outdoor fitness stations and basketball courts.

Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach is located directly across from Fort Lauderdale Beach Promenade.

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park

Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, this 180-acre park is one of the last maritime tropical hardwood hammocks in Broward County. Donated by Hugh Taylor Birch in 1941, it stands as a tribute to his desire to preserve the area’s natural beauty.

Today it’s home to gopher tortoises, over 250 bird species, and shady, peaceful trails that feel a world away from the bustle of A1A/ Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard.  You can kayak or canoe on the park’s coastal dune lakes, bike the nearly 2-mile paved loop, or just wander the trails and take in the surroundings.

Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach is located approximately 0.3 miles from Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.

Sebastian Street Beach

Sebastian Street Beach sits along the same stretch of Atlantic shoreline as the main beach strip; the water is just as clear, but with a vibrant, welcoming energy all its own.

Great for an early morning walk or an afternoon of soaking up the sun with an inclusive crowd.

Las Olas Beach

Set aside an afternoon for Las Olas Beach, where Las Olas Boulevard meets the ocean.

The beach is well set up with chair rentals, water sports gear, a splash pad if you’re traveling with kids, and an amphitheater at Las Olas Oceanside Park (LOOP), that hosts events throughout the year.

When you’re done on the sand, cross A1A/ Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard and grab a bite or a drink at the nearby restaurants and bars. Sunset here is worth sticking around for; the views over the water at the end of the day are hard to beat.
